The other day I found this book that I had made in 2003. At that time I was still living in Illinois and wanted to quilt more seriously. To discipline myself I made 1 small quilt page size each week. It didn't had to be pretty it just had to be fun and my creative juices going.

ZU GAST IN NRW - I WAS A GUEST IN NRW
Last week I visited a quilt group in NRW which is 2 hours North of Frankfurt. 12 quilters have been meeting monthly with their instructor who supplies them with new ideas and technics. At this meeting I admired some of their work that had been the outcome of last month's theme: ''the contemporary Log Cabin''

Last night we finished the 2 quilting classes for beginners with a fun party. Some of the girls were still sewing cutting and quilting while the others had delicious fingerfood and drinks and a nice chat. It has been a fun group and I hope we will continue. The photos only show a few pieces.
This is Christine proudly showing her 1. quilt which is almost finished. She loved using all the fabrics that she had brought from India. The 3 center squares are her own creations.
This quilt is made by Stormie who loves bright fall colors.
Jasna loved the stars and added 2 small hearts embellished with lace in the center. She made this quilt with love for her little baby girl.

QUADRATE - MORE SQUARES
This is my 2.nd piece in the serie I am working on right now. I am not happy about the outcome. The medium colored stripes interfere too much in the light colored background and take away the harmony. Great exercise and I had a great time doing it.
Although I fused this little quilt it still took me a long time to line up precisly all 3/4 inch stripes . Using wonder under for fusing one have to be careful not to ruin the iron or ironing board. There is a silicon mat for fusers on the market but I found a much better and cheaper mat at a local fall market. This mat is grey and ment to be used on baking sheets.

AUS ALT MACH NEU - HOW TO CHANGE A HANDBAG
What do I do with mother's old fashion needlepoint bag that she had made herself years ago?
I took a piece of heavy silk, cut out an oval shape ,inserted the piece of needle point and put a decorative border around it .
I combined the rest of the handbag with green velvet , silk piping , antique lace and silky black fringes. It was important to me to only use high quality material.

STOFFE BEMALEN - PAINTING FABRICS
I spent some of my Christmas money on fabric paint, SETACOLOR TRANSPARENT by PEBEO which was recommended by Mickey Lawler in one of her workshops I took in Ohio some years ago. Mickey is a renown American fabric painter . Inspired by her methods I had a great time experimenting in my studio. The results are ok but need improvements.
gedruckt mit Netz - printed with netting
während ich mich auf meine Oberflächengestaltung konzentrierte,
arbeitete Nele an ihrem ersten geklebten Quilt. Nele ist unsere 2 1/2 Jahre alte Enkelin.
